Protection goggles manufacturing materials

Mar 15, 2020

During the manufacture of this lens, a part of metal oxides such as iron, diamond, chromium, strontium, nickel, manganese and some rare earth metal oxides such as neodymium are added to the general optical glass formulation. These metal oxides can make the glass selectively absorb electromagnetic waves in a certain wavelength band of light. For example, oxides of cerium and iron can absorb a large amount of ultraviolet rays. Using this glass lens can reduce the amount of certain wavelengths passing through the lens, reducing or preventing damage to the eyes. Different colors of protective lenses can absorb light of different colors. This kind of glasses is divided into two categories, one is absorption type, the other is reflection type, the former is used most.

The lens flakes are generally circular, and the specifications are expressed in terms of their diameters in mm, with φ48, φ50, φ52, φ56, φ60, φ65, φ70, etc. The most commonly used specifications are φ56, φ60, and φ65. Due to the popularity of large frames, the use of large-size lenses such as φ70 has increased.
